A Room That Grows With Them: A Surprise 3-Day Transformation
Some projects are planned months in advance, with mood boards, construction timelines, and endless sourcing. Others arrive with a sense of urgency, excitement, and just a little magic. This girls’ bedroom was exactly that, a complete surprise makeover, delivered in less than three days.

When I first walked into the space, it felt tired and transitional. The furniture was mismatched, the storage wasn’t practical, and the room didn’t reflect the girls’ personalities. It was a space that held their things, but not their story. In that moment, I knew the transformation had to be about more than just furniture; it had to be about creating harmony between function, beauty, and identity.​​​

The request was simple yet deeply meaningful:

A room that feels magical today but will also grow with them for years to come. A space that balances the innocence of childhood with the timelessness they can carry into their teenage years.
There were also boundaries to respect. The existing curtains had to stay. The old desk, though dated, was a sentimental piece and needed to be worked into the design. And with such a short turnaround, there was no room for structural changes or heavy works. This wasn’t going to be a gut renovation; it was about vision, creativity, and precision.​​

In less than three days, everything shifted. We introduced two single beds with hidden storage, giving the girls both comfort and practicality. Their shared desk was reimagined as a creative hub today a place for colouring and crafts, tomorrow a space for homework and independence. Individual wardrobes brought much-needed organisation, while soft blush tones layered with playful accents tied the room together. By keeping the foundation timeless, we allowed space for personality to shine through accessories, lighting, and textiles, the kinds of details that can change as quickly as children grow.

And then came the reveal. Nothing compares to the moment when design meets emotion. Two sisters walking into their bedroom, wide-eyed, gasping, smiling, a space that was once ordinary suddenly became a sanctuary created just for them. The joy on their faces reminded me why I do what I do.
This project was proof that you don’t always need months, big budgets, or major works to create impact. Sometimes, with the right eye and the right intention, transformation can happen almost overnight.
